more about our team

Registered Dietitians/Nutritionists (RD/RDN®) are experts at translating science into clear, consumer- friendly information in a manner that is fresh and engaging. They ensure that the content is evidence-based and represents the recommendations of reputable health organizations.
RDs/RDNs are the real deal!

Unlike “influencers,” “nutritionists,” and “health coaches,” RDs/RDNs are required to have a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree with coursework approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition, RDs/RDNs must complete an accredited, supervised practice program and pass a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

more about our team

At Sisters Academy, we believe wholeheartedly in the potential of every girl who walks through our doors. The Culinary and Nutrition Education Program, created by Food Is Health co-founders, Laura Coti Garrett, MS, RDN and  Mary-Pat Maciolek, Ed.D., MBA, RD, FAND, is a shining exampleof how education can transform lives. Through hands-on learning, our students gain important knowledge and skills to improve their nutrition and health. I am incredibly proud of how this prgram empowers our students to make healthy choices for themselves and their families. This program is not just aboutfood; it is about building strong, confident young women who know they can shape their own future.

I would like to provide comments on the wonderful work of Dr. Mary-Pat Maciolek and Ms. Laura Coti Garrett, the creators of the Food Is Health initiative. The information they have to share will definitely impact your lifestyle of trying to improve your health. Mary-Pat and Laura assisted us in reviewing our current school menu and they helped us to revise and implement new and healthier choices for our students. They also took this a step futher and began conducting assemblies that broke down the food categories into workshops that educated our students on good nutrition. The assemblies were informative, age-appropriate, and very hands-on. Each month they focused on a different topic and our students definitely enjoyed themselves. We have more girls drinking milk and at least trying various vegetables. Most importantly, we have less waste and more eating! Food definitely makes for happy kids! I would highly recommend any interaction with
Food Is Health and can attest to how knowledgeable they are in this field. Food
definitely is HEALTH!!!
